The cabbage family of vegetables, also known as crucifers, includes broccoli, cabbage, kale, turnips, radishes, cauliflower, watercress and bok choy. Although all these vegetables have the ability to interfere with the development of cancerous tumors, broccoli is the only vegetable with abundant amounts of cancer sulforaphane.
Sulforaphane has been proven to fight the primary cancer cells that promote the growth of cancer in the body. According to studies. Sulforaphane fights an enzyme called Histone Deacetylase (HDAC). This compound also promotes production of glutathione, the enzyme that destroys cancer-stimulating components. This means as it fights the root cause of cancer, it also prevents cancer relapse.
