Watch for Swelling or Creaking
Since arthritis causes inflammation of the joints, you may notice some swelling on the affected knees. The rubbing of the swollen knee joints may cause the knee to feel warm, become red, and in some cases feel painful.
Another sign of knee arthritis is a creaking or popping sound inside the joint of the knee. This is also know as knee crepitus. Sometimes, you may experience an intermittent, painless, popping sensation. That's fine. However, if your popping sensation carries pain with it, that may be a knee arthritis alert.
